2022/23 Harvest
The rain played absolute havoc on LBS this year, making it the slowest and longest harvest thus far. The rain continued right into November prolonging harvest until early December, and even then grain was coming in dribs and drabs, nothing like we had experienced. The Canola was the first to come in, and that it did. We were able to fill a bunker, and because the demand was so high we were also able to fill another 4 silos before we had to make the call that we were full up of Canola. With flooded paddocks and Farmers unable to get into their paddocks, harvest had become very slow, instead of receiving grain our sample girls had become overly busy with farmers coming up to sample their grain, some of which got lucky and others not so much. Barley came in very slowly, and Wheat didn't start coming in till late December early January, we were able to fill a Wheat bunker, and 2 silos. Barley was very hard to come by this year and we only managed to fill a quarter of a bunker and a couple silos. Overall the team at LBS is happy with what we were able to achieve and extend our thanks to the farmers for once again trusting us, and supporting and helping to keep our dream alive! Lets hope next year is a little less wet and we can get back to the crazy mayhem of harvest that we love!
2022 Outturns
With such a wet start to the beginning of the year most of our outturns had been postponed, meaning our site has been full for a little longer than we had hoped, but with this said it allowed us some time to clean up and check that everything was working in tip top order for the upcoming year. We began outturning in the middle of this year, trying to get as much out before we got rained out. All front silos are empty, and both our BAR1 and Wheat bunker are empty also, Bean bunker is underway with outturns hoping to be empty in the next couple of days. Our new bunker is currently in the works and hopes to be completed come harvest time. This years going to be a different harvest but our team are keen and can't wait to see both familiar and new faces whenever that may be. See you soon!!
